Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, on Wednesday underscored the importance of effectively implementing the Quality Assurance Framework, developed in 2023 in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the British Council, to enhance the standards of higher education in Pakistan.

He shared these remarks during a meeting with Pakistani-American Professor Mudassar Wyne, an expert in quality assurance and a PhD holder in Computer Science from California, who called on him to discuss strategies for advancing education standards in the country.

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Director of HEC, and the Member of the Planning Commission for Science & Technology also attended the meeting, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering educational reform.

During the discussion, Professor Wyne presented quality assurance principles endorsed by the American Board of Engineering and Technology, emphasizing their relevance to improving educational outcomes in Pakistan.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal lauded the contributions of overseas Pakistani experts under the Uraan Pakistan program and proposed establishing a Premier League Group comprising the country’s top 10 universities. This initiative aims to align Pakistani universities with global standards by fostering collaborations with leading institutions worldwide.

He further noted that the Quality Assurance Framework offers a robust mechanism to elevate the quality of education while addressing the specific needs of Pakistan’s academic landscape.

The minister’s remarks highlight the government’s ongoing efforts to integrate international expertise into local education systems and its vision for advancing higher education to meet global benchmarks.
