Aliyev Thanks CIS Leaders for Supporting Lachin as Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has expressed gratitude to the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for supporting the decision to designate Lachin as the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth.
Addressing the limited-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, President Aliyev highlighted the importance of humanitarian cooperation among member states and reaffirmed its role in strengthening cultural ties and mutual understanding.
“Humanitarian cooperation is one of the key areas. I would like to express my gratitude to the heads of state of the CIS for supporting the decision to declare the city of Lachin the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth,” Aliyev said.
The Azerbaijani president noted that large-scale events held in Lachin last year had provided visiting delegations with an opportunity to explore the region’s rich and ancient history.
He added that the visitors had also witnessed firsthand the city’s rapid revival and the extensive restoration and reconstruction work underway.
Aliyev’s remarks underscored Azerbaijan’s efforts to promote Lachin’s cultural heritage and highlight its ongoing restoration, while strengthening humanitarian and cultural cooperation among CIS member states.
