Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s embassies and consulates general across the region are operating in an intensified mode in response to the ongoing military escalation, according to Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement addressing the situation of Azerbaijani citizens in the affected areas, Hajizada said diplomatic missions are providing appropriate assistance in response to requests from nationals.

“So far, only one Azerbaijani citizen has been injured. Our diplomatic mission is providing the necessary support to this citizen, and his condition is good,” he noted.

Regarding the evacuation process, Hajizada stated that in line with the travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani nationals currently in Iran are leaving the country through land borders with Azerbaijan and Türkiye, depending on their location. To date, 30 Azerbaijani citizens have crossed into Azerbaijan.

He added that due to the current closure of airspace in the region, a large-scale evacuation is not planned at this stage.

The Foreign Ministry has urged Azerbaijani citizens remaining in the region to closely monitor the evolving security situation, strictly follow instructions and recommendations issued by local authorities, avoid crowded public places and mass gatherings, and take all necessary personal safety precautions.

The Ministry reaffirmed that it continues to closely monitor developments and stands ready to provide further assistance to citizens as needed.
