Azerbaijan and Belarus Strengthen Partnership in Light Industry and Investment

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan hosted a high-level meeting with a Belarusian delegation led by Tatyana Lugina, Chairperson of Bellegprom – the State Concern for the Production and Sale of Light Industry Goods – to explore avenues for expanding cooperation in the light industry sector and mutual investment.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Sahib Alakbarov, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of Azerbaijan’s growing light industry sector. He emphasized the considerable potential for deepening bilateral collaboration in trade, industrial development, and investment.
Alakbarov highlighted Azerbaijan’s favorable business climate, industrial zones, and its strategic transit and logistics capabilities. He also underlined the incentives available to investors, particularly in the recently liberated territories, and the wide array of government support mechanisms for entrepreneurship development.
In her remarks, Tatyana Lugina expressed Belarus’s strong interest in partnering with Azerbaijan to establish joint production facilities and implement advanced technological solutions. She presented a detailed overview of Belarus’s light industry sector, outlining its production strengths and export capacities.
Lugina stressed the importance of light industry for domestic market supply, employment generation, and regional development. She also shared Belarus’s initiatives in recycling technologies and the manufacturing of innovative goods.
The meeting brought together heads of various enterprises from both countries, who exchanged views on expanding cooperation in key light industry areas, particularly in textile manufacturing. Participants proposed initiatives related to mutual investment, collaboration within industrial parks, knowledge exchange, and workforce training programs.
The sides agreed on the importance of enhancing business-to-business dialogue and fostering partnerships between Azerbaijani and Belarusian companies as a step toward strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
