Azerbaijan, Iran exchange views on security issues in region
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov on Wednesday had a telephone conversation with Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, the Defense Ministry’s press service told media.
The sides exchanged detailed views on the state and security issues in the region.
Lieutenant General M.H. Bagheri, in his turn, emphasized that information disseminated by some sources that Iran is allegedly gathering manpower and military equipment to the border with Azerbaijan, and conducting various exercises, is completely unfounded. He added that such information is aimed at undermining the existing friendly and neighborly relations between the two countries.
During the telephone conversation, the sides also discussed the prospects for the development of military cooperation between the two countries.
