Azerbaijan U18 Defeat Ukraine for Historic First Group Win
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Under-18 national basketball team secured a historic milestone by registering its first-ever group-stage victory at the FIBA U18 European Championship Division B, defeating Ukraine 77-68 in the second-round match held in Rijeka and Opatija, Croatia.
The hard-fought win marks a significant achievement for Azerbaijan’s youth basketball programme, with the national team delivering a composed performance to overcome Ukraine and earn its maiden group-stage triumph in the tournament.
Buoyed by the landmark victory, Azerbaijan will now turn its attention to its next Group Stage fixture against Iceland, scheduled to tip off at 12:30 p.m. Baku time on July 26.
The team’s historic success provides a major boost to its campaign as it looks to build momentum and continue its progress in the European Championship Division B.
