Azerbaijan’s Parliament Speaker Meets Russia’s Federation Council Chairperson in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, held a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of Russia’s Federation Council, during the 57th Plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, according to media reports.

The two leaders engaged in discussions focused on enhancing relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, with particular emphasis on parliamentary cooperation. They exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties and collaboration between the two countries’ parliaments.

The meeting also addressed the role of parliamentarians from both nations in international organizations and within the framework of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly (CIS PA), highlighting the importance of continued cooperation in these arenas.

This meeting further reflects the ongoing efforts by Azerbaijan and Russia to deepen their parliamentary and diplomatic ties within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
