Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov Arrives in Tehran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, Ali Asadov, arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a working visit, as reported by the Cabinet of Ministers.

During his visit, Prime Minister Asadov is scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Masoud Pezeshkian, the President-elect of Iran. This event marks a significant moment in Iranian politics, following the official endorsement of Pezeshkian by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on Sunday.

Masoud Pezeshkian emerged victorious in the runoff vote held on July 5, defeating Saeed Jalili. The runoff election was conducted a week after the first round of the snap presidential election, which was necessitated by the untimely demise of the late president Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash in western Iran on May 19.

The working visit by Prime Minister Asadov underscores the importance of the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, as both nations continue to engage in diplomatic and economic cooperation.
