Belarus Expresses Readiness to Expand Economic Cooperation with Iranian Cities

Tabriz, The Gulf Observer: Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran Dmitry Koltsov has announced his country’s readiness to broaden economic and trade cooperation with cities across Iran, emphasizing the dynamic and growing nature of Belarus–Iran relations.
Speaking during a meeting on Saturday with Yaghoub Houshyar, Mayor of Tabriz, Ambassador Koltsov described ties between the two nations as “very dynamic” and voiced optimism about their continued expansion.
“Cooperation between all cities of Iran and Belarus is now on the agenda,” he stated, stressing the importance of enhancing regional partnerships, strengthening economic and commercial ties, and expanding collaboration in transportation, particularly between Tabriz and Belarusian cities.
The ambassador also revealed that a delegation from the Belarusian city of Mogilev is preparing to visit Tabriz. He proposed holding a virtual meeting between the municipalities of Tabriz and Mogilev within the next three to four weeks to finalize the delegation’s travel schedule and identify priority areas of cooperation.
In response, Mayor Houshyar highlighted Tabriz’s strong industrial base, noting the city’s active role in heavy industries, including steel production, confectionery and chocolate manufacturing, and automobile production. He welcomed Belarus’s interest in strengthening ties and expressed readiness to facilitate expanded cooperation.
Both sides expressed confidence that enhanced municipal-level engagement would contribute to deepening economic, industrial, and regional collaboration between Iran and Belarus.
