Belarus Seeks AI Cooperation with UAE, Says President Lukashenko
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has expressed his country’s readiness to collaborate with the United Arab Emirates in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The announcement was made during a meeting with Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment and Managing Director of the investment fund ADQ, in Abu Dhabi.
“Artificial intelligence and its development are topics of my interest. Particularly development, not beginning. It is important for us, just as it is for the whole world. I am very grateful to you for willingly sharing your knowledge and expertise, both from your ministry and your specialists working in this field,” President Lukashenko said.
The president highlighted Belarus’s commitment to advancing AI and noted that the country already has the foundational infrastructure and skilled personnel to support this effort. “A foundation, the basis, and the people for it are available. I feel hopeful for the future,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his previous visits to the UAE, President Lukashenko acknowledged the valuable insights he gained from discussions and presentations on high technologies, including AI. He humorously noted, “We discussed artificial intelligence in general terms, including the notion that this ‘bloody artificial intelligence’ might take over the world soon. I put little trust in that. It turns out your specialists were right.”
The Belarusian leader expressed optimism that the meeting would yield positive outcomes for Belarus’s economy and its people. “I am absolutely sure that today’s meeting will result in a good decision for the economy and the people of Belarus,” he concluded.
This meeting underscores the growing interest in international cooperation on AI development and highlights Belarus’s aspirations to leverage UAE expertise in advancing its technological capabilities.
