High-Level Belarusian Delegation Arrives in Pakistan Ahead of President Lukashenko’s Visit

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: A high-level Belarusian delegation arrived in Islamabad on Sunday, paving the way for deeper bilateral collaboration between Pakistan and Belarus. President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus is set to arrive in the Pakistani capital on Monday to lead discussions aimed at enhancing economic, industrial, and strategic ties.

The 68-member delegation, comprising 43 business leaders and 25 ministerial officials, includes key figures such as Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and ministers responsible for energy, industry, justice, communications, natural resources, and emergency management. The chairman of Belarus’s Military Industry Committee is also part of the delegation.

The group was warmly received at Islamabad’s airport by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister Naqvi welcomed the visitors, emphasizing the significance of their visit for fostering collaboration in trade, industry, and other critical sectors.

“This visit is of great importance for strengthening bilateral relations and fostering collaboration in various sectors, including industry and trade,” Naqvi said in a statement released by the interior ministry.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1994, Pakistan and Belarus have steadily developed their partnership, focusing on trade, industrial cooperation, and technological exchange. Belarus exports machinery, fertilizers, and synthetic yarn to Pakistan, while Pakistan provides textiles, leather goods, and surgical instruments to Belarus.

The delegation’s visit will involve discussions to explore new avenues of cooperation, culminating in President Lukashenko’s meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The talks are expected to cover a range of areas, including bilateral engagement and potential agreements. The signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) is anticipated during the visit.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated, “President Lukashenko will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discuss areas of bilateral cooperation and engagement.”

This visit marks another significant step in strengthening the relationship between the two nations, underscoring their commitment to mutual growth and collaboration.
