China and Russia Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Relations

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in Beijing, emphasized the strength and resilience of China-Russia relations, characterizing their alliance as grounded in historical logic and driven by robust internal momentum. The alliance, Wang asserted, remains unaffected by fluctuating global dynamics, underlining its independence and strategic intent.

During the meeting, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, reaffirmed that the China-Russia partnership does not target any third party and should remain free from external interference. This principle, he noted, underscores the cooperation’s focus on mutual respect and shared objectives.

Wang also highlighted the recent BRICS leaders’ summit in Kazan, applauding it as a success that has furthered BRICS cooperation, promoted unity among Global South nations, and contributed positively to global peace and stability. He credited the summit with reinforcing the group’s commitment to collective resilience and development amidst a shifting global landscape.

With China currently holding the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Wang expressed the nation’s commitment to collaborating closely with Russia in advancing the SCO’s objectives and fostering meaningful progress in regional security and economic integration.

Rudenko marked the significance of 2024 as a milestone year, celebrating both the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. He described China-Russia ties as having reached an unprecedented high, with both countries working closely to implement the strategic plans set by their respective leaders. Russia, he said, is prepared to further high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and coordinate on international and regional matters.

The two sides also discussed perspectives on the ongoing Ukraine crisis, underscoring the importance of dialogue and coordination on complex international issues.

The meeting reinforced the China-Russia commitment to a stable, enduring partnership that serves as a cornerstone for regional peace and development.
