Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Leads UAE Delegation at ANOC General Assembly in Cascais
Cascais, The Gulf Observer: Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of the UAE, led the Committee’s delegation at the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), held in Cascais, Portugal, from October 30 to November 1. The assembly is part of a series of meetings organized by ANOC.
Joining Sheikh Rashid in the delegation were Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee, and Major General Dr. Muhammad Al Mur, a member of the Committee’s Board of Directors.
The meeting began with a tribute to several prominent sports leaders who made significant contributions to the Olympic movement. Following this, Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, addressed the delegates representing national Olympic committees from around the globe.
Key topics on the agenda included the approval of the minutes from the 26th General Assembly held in Seoul in 2022, along with reports from the President and Secretary-General of ANOC. The assembly reviewed several important reports, including those on the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games and updates from the Indonesian Olympic Committee.
In addition to discussions regarding the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, participants received insights from the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Testing Agency. Presentations by Deloitte and the Centre for Digital Leadership, along with updates on the ANOC TV Digital Acceleration Programme, were also part of the assembly’s proceedings.
Furthermore, members reviewed reports from various ANOC committees and working groups, updates from the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games Organising Committee, the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee, and a report from the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The assembly also discussed ANOC’s sustainability strategy, commercial opportunities, and the organization’s strategic plan, along with an update from the International World Games Association.
The gathering serves as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and discussing the future of the Olympic movement, reinforcing the commitment of the UAE and other nations to promote sportsmanship and international cooperation.
