China to promote diplomatic ties with Côte d'Ivoire to new level: Premier Li Qiang

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China is willing to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties with the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire as a starting point to promote bilateral relations into a new stage, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Wednesday.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Achi in Boao, south China’s Hainan Province.

Viewing Côte d’Ivoire as a key partner, Li said China is willing to make a contribution to building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future with Côte d’Ivoire.

Appreciating Côte d’Ivoire’s firm adherence to the one-China principle, Li emphasized that China is willing to strengthen development planning with Côte d’Ivoire, deepen cooperation in the field of agriculture, infrastructure and digital economy, help Côte d’Ivoire achieve food self-sufficiency, promote the industrialization process as soon as possible and support Côte d’Ivoire in anti-terrorism and stability maintenance.

China will also support Côte d’Ivoire in building a strong nation of talents, help Côte d’Ivoire train more talent urgently needed for development, and welcome more youth to study in China.

Achi congratulated China on its victory against COVID-19 and thanked China’s support in the fighting against the pandemic and in development of infrastructure.

He also said Côte d’Ivoire will adhere to the one-China principle and is actively getting involved in the Belt and Road cooperation.

Côte d’Ivoire is willing to deepen cooperation in the fields of investment, agriculture, education and training, and to help accelerate economic and social development in China, Achi added.
