Chinese Premier and Guinea-Bissau President Pledge Enhanced Cooperation
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo in Beijing on Wednesday, committing to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and achieving common development between the two nations.
Premier Li emphasized the strong and reliable partnership between China and Guinea-Bissau, noting that China always prioritizes the development of friendly and cooperative relations with Guinea-Bissau. He highlighted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the countries have maintained a continuous traditional friendship, developed bilateral relations steadily, and achieved significant cooperation outcomes.
“China is willing to work with Guinea-Bissau to follow the direction guided by the two heads of state, consolidate and deepen political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, better achieve common development, and bring more benefits to the two peoples,” Premier Li stated.
He reaffirmed China’s support for Guinea-Bissau in exploring a development path suited to its national conditions and in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and development interests. Premier Li expressed China’s readiness to align development strategies with Guinea-Bissau, share development experiences, and advance pragmatic and efficient cooperation to enhance Guinea-Bissau’s internal driving force for development.
Premier Li called for the effective use of important platforms such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to deepen cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure construction. He also noted that China is willing to import more quality agricultural products from Guinea-Bissau and encourages Chinese enterprises to expand investment in the country, hoping for continued convenience and support from Guinea-Bissau.
“China stands ready to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation with Guinea-Bissau in medical care, health, and education, and welcomes more outstanding Guinea-Bissau students to study in China,” Premier Li added.
President Embalo expressed deep appreciation for China’s long-term valuable support for Guinea-Bissau’s economic and social development. He affirmed Guinea-Bissau’s willingness to further strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields such as economy, trade, and infrastructure construction for common development.
Guinea-Bissau firmly adheres to the one-China principle and supports major concepts and global initiatives, including the building of a community with a shared future for humanity and the Belt and Road Initiative. President Embalo expressed readiness to work with China to achieve fruitful results at the next FOCAC summit, to be held in China this fall.
