Chengdu, The Gulf Observer: The production of “Red Earth,” China’s first original science fiction internet movie, has been successfully completed, as announced at the 15th Chinese Nebula Awards held in southwest China’s Chengdu.

Adapted from the work of Chongqing-based writer Xiao Xinghan, “Red Earth” depicts a post-nuclear war world where humanity has resettled underground. The narrative follows human battles against genetically mutated species and the ultimate revival of human civilization.

Xiao Xinghan highlighted that the film explores the impact of cutting-edge technologies on future societies. Utilizing artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies in its production, the movie aims to convey a powerful sense of science and technology.

“Films such as ‘The Wandering Earth’ and ‘Three-Body Problem’ have set a promising precedent, and audiences are eagerly awaiting more sci-fi films and TV shows,” said Lin Ran, the chief producer of “Red Earth.”

The completion of “Red Earth” marks a significant milestone in China’s burgeoning science fiction film industry, signaling a bright future for genre enthusiasts and the nation’s cinematic landscape.
