CRIC 21 session begins in Samarkand

CRIC 21 session kicks off in Samarkand

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The 21st session of the Committee to Review the Implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification began its work in Samarkand. The event will take place from 13 to 17 November at the Silk Road Congress Hall.

The event will include consultations with experts from participating countries on the implementation of the Convention for Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Northern Mediterranean, and Central and Eastern Europe.

The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov take part in the forum.

As part of CRIC21, the Intergovernmental Working Group on Effective Drought Management Policies and Implementation will present its progress report. Also in accordance with Decision 7/COP15 (Annex I), a joint consultation will be held to provide recommendations and an independent assessment to identify possible future actions to further improve the implementation of the UNCCD Strategic Framework 2018-2030.
