Gaza Health Ministry Warns of Imminent Hospital Shutdown Due to Fuel Shortage
Gaza City, The Gulf Observer: The Gaza Health Ministry has issued a grave warning that hospitals and oxygen stations across the besieged territory will cease operations within 48 hours due to an imminent depletion of fuel, a direct consequence of the ongoing Israeli war.
In a statement released today, the ministry cautioned, “The remaining hospitals, health centres, and oxygen stations will stop working within 48 hours.”
The ministry highlighted that this critical situation is expected “due to the depletion of fuel required for operating generators, which Israel restricts from entering Gaza, along with other essential supplies such as medicine and food, as part of tightening restrictions.”
The statement further indicated that the fuel supply is nearly exhausted, “despite the stringent austerity measures implemented by the ministry to conserve the remaining stock for as long as possible, given the insufficient quantities available for operation.”
The ministry’s warning underscores the dire humanitarian crisis faced by Gaza, where access to basic necessities has been severely restricted. The health sector, already strained by ongoing conflict and shortages, is now on the brink of collapse without the essential fuel needed to power medical facilities and critical equipment.
This looming shutdown of medical services poses a severe threat to the lives of thousands of residents who rely on these facilities for urgent and ongoing medical care. The Gaza Health Ministry has called for immediate international intervention to address the critical fuel shortage and prevent a catastrophic breakdown of healthcare services in the territory.
