German Chancellor Holds Phone Call With Azerbaijani President, Praises Progress on Regional Peace Efforts
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On December 4, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, according to media reports.
Chancellor Merz extended his congratulations to President Aliyev on the progress made in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing Germany’s support for stability and lasting peace in the region.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the Chancellor’s remarks and noted that Azerbaijan has been the initiator of regional peace initiatives. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing efforts aimed at ensuring and consolidating durable peace across the region.
During the conversation, both sides also exchanged views on the prospects for enhancing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz invited President Aliyev to visit Germany. President Aliyev accepted the invitation with appreciation and, in return, invited the German Chancellor to visit Azerbaijan. Chancellor Merz likewise accepted the invitation.
