Gia Lai Province Urged to Accelerate Development and Promote Sustainability
Gia Lai, The Gulf Observer: The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai has been called upon to demonstrate a strong commitment to development, aiming to become a prosperous and sustainable region.
During a working session on Monday, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm emphasized the need for Gia Lai to focus on organic agriculture, ecological diversity, cultural richness, and sustainable socio-environmental practices. The session reviewed the implementation of the Resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and the 16th Provincial Party Congress.
In his address, Tô Lâm highlighted three main pillars for the province’s economic development:
- Developing high-tech, sustainable, and organic agriculture.
- Promoting selected industries, including processing, renewable energy, and construction materials.
- Growing tourism as a green economy sector, emphasizing sustainability and the region’s unique identity.
He stressed improving the investment environment to make business operations transparent, convenient, and cost-effective. Efforts should also focus on expanding the digital economy, enhancing transport and industrial infrastructure, and promoting private-sector growth to significantly contribute to the provincial Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).
The province was urged to strengthen collective economic models, such as new-style cooperatives, while enhancing local OCOP (One Commune—One Product) initiatives. Additionally, improving the efficiency of State-owned enterprises and addressing private-sector barriers were highlighted as priorities.
Tô Lâm also tasked the province with implementing three national target programmes: building new-style rural areas, reducing poverty sustainably, and developing socio-economic conditions in ethnic minority and mountainous regions.
He called for a comprehensive review of targets and solutions to address development bottlenecks and achieve the goals set in the 16th Provincial Party Congress Resolution.
Furthermore, Tô Lâm underscored the importance of building a clean and strong Party and political system capable of addressing new challenges, including the effective reorganisation of the political apparatus under Resolution 18.
