Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, German Economic Delegation Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy, to discuss prospects for further strengthening Turkmen-German cooperation.
At the meeting, Michael Harms expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to meet and emphasized Germany’s strong interest in developing mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan.
He also conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty from Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Michael Harms expressed appreciation for the invitation to participate in the significant events being held in Turkmenistan, describing the opportunity as an important occasion for further enhancing bilateral engagement.
In response, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the greetings and kind remarks, extending his best wishes to the leadership of Germany. He noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany has been developing successfully across a wide range of areas.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people underscored the importance of visits by the Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy to Turkmenistan, noting their contribution to expanding economic and business ties between the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation, which Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov identified as one of the key areas of the bilateral partnership. He also highlighted the importance of close cooperation in healthcare, agriculture and other sectors of mutual interest.
Speaking about Turkmen-German cooperation in healthcare, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that medical facilities scheduled to open this year in connection with the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers of Turkmenistan are being equipped with advanced German technologies and equipment.
In this context, he invited Michael Harms to participate in the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence as well as the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers.
Michael Harms expressed sincere appreciation for the invitation and reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to further develop cooperation with Turkmenistan. He particularly highlighted the significance of the medical cluster under construction in the city of Arkadag and expressed the German side’s interest in expanding partnership and exchanging expertise in the healthcare sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that Turkmenistan-Germany relations would continue to develop dynamically, with particular emphasis on expanding trade, economic and sectoral cooperation. They exchanged best wishes for the continued prosperity of the two countries and their peoples.
