IMF to expand support for irreversible reform program in New Uzbekistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev Tuesday received Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in the city of Samarkand.

Issues of further development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the International Monetary Fund were discussed, including in such priority areas as reforms to ensure macroeconomic stability, improve monetary and fiscal policy.

It was noted with satisfaction that in recent years, interaction with the IMF has noticeably intensified. In recent years, more than 70 missions of the Fund have visited Uzbekistan, and expert and technical assistance is expanding.

The head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, expressed her full support and readiness to facilitate the continuation of the program of irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan.

There was also an exchange of views on topical issues of the global economy and sustainable development.

This was the end of the trip of the President of Uzbekistan to Samarkand, the head of state returned to Tashkent.
