Indonesia and France Strengthen Civil Aviation Cooperation with Signing of Annex V

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and France have reinforced their technical cooperation in civil aviation through the signing of Annex V to their bilateral framework, the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation announced on Thursday.
Lukman F. Laisa, an official at the ministry, stated that the agreement updates and strengthens the technical cooperation framework to meet the evolving needs of the civil aviation sector. He highlighted that Annex V reflects the commitment of both countries to enhance civil aviation safety and security through stronger oversight capacity, human resource development, and the exchange of expertise and best practices.
The signing was conducted circularly, with Indonesia’s Director General of Civil Aviation signing the document on December 3 in Jakarta, followed by the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation on December 17 in Paris.
Derived from the 2019 Technical Cooperation Agreement, Annex V serves as a framework for implementing technical programs and activities in civil aviation between the two countries. “With the enactment of Annex V, Annex IV, which previously served as the basis for technical cooperation, is no longer valid,” Laisa noted.
The cooperation encompasses strengthening aviation safety oversight, enhancing the competence of aviation personnel, and exchanging knowledge and experience. It also supports the implementation of standards and recommended practices set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Laisa emphasized that the collaboration is expected to improve the performance and competitiveness of Indonesia’s civil aviation sector while ensuring compliance with global aviation safety and security standards.
Annex V will be valid for six months and may be extended by mutual agreement between the two civil aviation authorities.
