Indonesia Condemns Israel’s Violations of Gaza Ceasefire, Calls for International Action

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia has strongly condemned Israel’s actions undermining the Gaza ceasefire, including violations of its initial terms, unilateral demands to extend its first phase, and refusal to engage in talks on the second phase of the agreement.

In a statement on Monday, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, asserting that using aid as leverage in ceasefire negotiations constitutes a war crime. The ministry further stated that Israel’s actions represent clear violations of international humanitarian law and human rights.

Indonesia has urged the international community to exert pressure on Israel to allow the immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance and resume discussions on the second phase of the ceasefire as originally agreed.

Reaffirming its commitment to a two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace, Indonesia expressed deep concern over the consequences of Israel’s decision to halt aid deliveries to Gaza. The move came just hours after the expiration of the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal, which had taken effect on January 19, 2025, and officially ended at midnight on March 2.

Despite the agreement, Israel has not agreed to proceed with the second phase of the ceasefire, which aims to bring an end to the war in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instead sought to extend the initial exchange phase to secure the release of more Israeli captives without fulfilling the military and humanitarian obligations stipulated in the deal.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has rejected any continuation under these conditions, demanding that Israel honor the terms of the ceasefire and initiate talks on the second phase, which includes a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a full cessation of hostilities.

Indonesia reiterated its call for urgent diplomatic efforts to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and prevent further humanitarian deterioration in Gaza.
