Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over direct cash assistance (BLT) and basic necessities to hundreds of traders and residents at Pucang Anom Market in Pucangsewu, Gubeng, Surabaya City, East Java Province, on Sunday.
Along the road to the market, he was welcomed by hundreds of elementary and junior high school students of Surabaya City who waited for him while carrying the national flag.
Accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi,and other officials, the President was greeted by local traders upon arrival at the market.
In addition to handing over the social aid, the President also held a dialogue with the merchants.
He also gave some t-shirts to the crowds and took photos with a number of residents.
