Iran and Serbia Pledge to Expand Economic Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Abdolnaser Hemmati met with Serbian Ambassador to Tehran, Damir Kovacevic, on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting in Tehran, both officials underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties, reflecting the commitment of their political leadership to foster closer relations.

Hemmati highlighted Iran’s significant investment potential, citing its abundant mineral and energy resources, along with a skilled and educated workforce. He described Iran as an ideal destination for Serbian investors, reiterating that the Iranian government faces no obstacles in deepening ties with Serbia.

“The 14th government of Iran fully supports the development of relations between the governments and peoples of Iran and Serbia,” Hemmati emphasized.

Ambassador Kovacevic conveyed Serbia’s strong interest in enhancing economic cooperation and extended invitations for the Iranian president and parliament speaker to visit Serbia. He noted the importance of agreements signed in recent years, including those aimed at preventing double taxation and promoting mutual investments.

Kovacevic also reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to implementing these agreements and announced plans to convene a joint commission between the two countries before the end of 2024 to further advance economic collaboration.

The meeting underscored a mutual dedication to fostering robust economic partnerships and exploring new opportunities for investment and cooperation.
