Iran Strongly Condemns Latest U.S. Sanctions as ‘Assault on National Dignity’

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has forcefully condemned the latest round of U.S. sanctions as a blatant attack on the Iranian people and their national dignity, following Washington’s decision to impose new restrictive measures targeting individuals, organizations, and vessels linked to the country’s energy and oil sectors.

In a strongly worded statement released on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Baqaei denounced the move as “a clear reflection of the hostility of American policymakers towards the Iranian people.”

The condemnation came after the U.S. State Department announced sanctions on more than 115 individuals, institutions, and ships allegedly connected to Iran’s energy and maritime industries.

Baqaei asserted that the true objective of the sanctions is not to advance international security or diplomacy, but rather to cripple Iran’s economic development, sow internal division, and erode the livelihoods and rights of ordinary citizens.

“This policy of aggression has been the hallmark of Washington’s adversarial approach toward Iran for over seven decades,” he stated.

The spokesperson also referred to recent U.S. actions in the region, including what he described as Washington’s “unprecedented support” for Israel’s unprovoked military campaign against the Islamic Republic last month.

“The Iranian people, fully aware of the malicious intent of the aggressive sanctioning party, will stand firm with all their might to safeguard their dignity and national interests,” Baqaei affirmed.

He further criticized the United States for its “chronic addiction to unilateralism” and its use of unlawful pressure tactics to achieve illegitimate goals, arguing that such actions have repeatedly violated international law, human rights, and the principles of sovereign trade.

Calling for greater international accountability, Baqaei emphasized that these sanctions should not go unchecked by the global community.

“Iran remains unwavering in its commitment to defending its sovereignty and pursuing its national aspirations, despite Washington’s provocations,” the spokesperson concluded.

The latest sanctions come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, underscoring deepening divisions over Iran’s regional role, its nuclear program, and broader geopolitical alignments.
