Iran, Tajikistan Pledge to Enhance Military and Defense Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, has reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to expand defense and military cooperation with Tajikistan during a high-level meeting with Tajikistan’s newly appointed Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda, held on Wednesday in Tehran.

Welcoming General Sobirzoda and his accompanying military delegation, Major General Baqeri congratulated him on his new appointment and expressed hope for continued success in his tenure. He emphasized that the current level of interaction between the armed forces of both nations is at its highest and continues to progress.

“The cultural, historical, religious, and political commonalities shared by Iran and Tajikistan provide a strong foundation for deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in defense and military sectors,” said General Baqeri.

In response, Lieutenant General Sobirzoda praised the capabilities of the Iranian Armed Forces, describing them as “powerful and efficient.” He further highlighted Iran’s defense industry as being among the most advanced in both the region and globally.

The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening strategic ties between Iran and Tajikistan, underlining mutual commitment to enhancing regional security and defense collaboration.
