Iranian Ambassador Meets Georgian Parliament Speaker at Conclusion of Mission

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Ambassador to Georgia Mahmoud Adib held a meeting with Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili at the conclusion of his diplomatic mission to the country, discussing bilateral relations and regional developments.

During the meeting, Papuashvili commended Adib’s efforts in strengthening relations between Iran and Georgia throughout his tenure. “We are aware of your valuable efforts in developing bilateral ties. We are pleased that during the recent tensions in the South Caucasus, you, as the Iranian ambassador, managed relations in a constructive and balanced manner,” the Georgian Parliament Speaker said.

He reiterated that Georgia’s policy is based on peace and stability in the region, expressing hope that the establishment of greater security would further expand cooperation with Iran. Papuashvili also highlighted the deep civilizational and cultural heritage shared by the two nations, noting that this historical legacy holds significant potential for strengthening human values. He added that Iranians have demonstrated the maturity required to overcome crises, unlike some other countries.

For his part, Ambassador Adib thanked the Georgian Parliament Speaker for his views and reaffirmed that Iran’s policy in the Caucasus is founded on maintaining peace and respecting the territorial integrity of states.

Adib emphasized the important role of parliaments in consolidating mutual interests and described the abolition of visa requirements as a clear sign of the political will on both sides to deepen bilateral ties. He also stressed the need to further develop parliamentary diplomacy and increase exchanges of friendship delegations.

Referring to Georgia’s immigration laws, the Iranian ambassador called for the preservation of the honor and dignity of Iranian citizens residing in or visiting the country, underscoring the importance of mutual respect in advancing bilateral relations.
