Italian Prime Minister Meloni Begins Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

Jeddah, The Gulf Observer: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived in Jeddah on Saturday, marking the start of her official visit to Saudi Arabia. She was welcomed at the airport by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, along with other Saudi officials, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The visit follows the signing of a key agreement between Saudi Arabia and Italy earlier this month to enhance energy cooperation. The memorandum of understanding, signed on January 14 by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Italian Minister of Energy and Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, outlines collaboration in the energy sector, including the potential supply of green hydrogen produced in the Kingdom to Europe.
Prime Minister Meloni’s visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Italy, particularly in the areas of energy transition and sustainable development. The two nations aim to build on their shared commitment to addressing global energy challenges through innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.
The official agenda for Meloni’s visit is expected to include high-level meetings with Saudi leadership to further discuss bilateral relations and explore opportunities for economic and technological collaboration.
