Kazakh and Turkmen Presidents Hold Talks on Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Astana to participate in the VI Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The meeting, as reported by the Presidential Press Service (Akorda), focused on enhancing the multifaceted partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

President Tokayev expressed his gratitude to President Berdimuhamedov for attending the summit, emphasizing the significance of his visit as a key step towards deepening the cooperation between the two nations.

In response, President Berdimuhamedov thanked President Tokayev for the warm welcome and acknowledged the robust and dynamic development of bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. He highlighted the importance that Turkmenistan places on fostering cooperation with Kazakhstan across various sectors.

During the discussions, President Berdimuhamedov noted that the two countries have established an active political dialogue and are making significant strides in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. He also extended an invitation to President Tokayev to make an official visit to Turkmenistan this autumn. The visit would coincide with an international forum celebrating the 300th anniversary of the esteemed Turkmen poet.

The leaders also explored opportunities to further develop their partnership in several key areas, including trade and economic relations, energy, oil and gas, transport and logistics, and cultural and humanitarian collaboration.

The talks underscore the commitment of both Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to strengthening their bilateral relations and contributing to regional stability and prosperity.
