Kazakh President Tokayev and Uzbek FM Saidov Discuss Deepening Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in a high-level meeting, emphasizing the robust dynamics of bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The Kazakh leader highlighted the priority attached to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan, expressing readiness to support initiatives aimed at the well-being and prosperity of both countries.
President Tokayev acknowledged the significant role played by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in deepening bilateral relations. The discussions during the meeting centered on expanding trade and economic cooperation, with an emphasis on identifying new growth points and increasing trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
A key topic of discussion was the reinforcement of cooperation in the transit and transport sector. President Tokayev informed that Kazakhstan has initiated the construction of the Darbaza-Maktaraal railroad, extending connectivity to Uzbekistan to enhance freight traffic. The Kazakh leader invited Uzbekistan’s active participation in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, emphasizing the mutual benefits such collaboration would bring.
In response, Foreign Minister Saidov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed best wishes from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He highlighted the shared commitment of the Heads of State to elevate the standards of allied relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Minister Saidov shared plans for collaborative efforts to ensure the successful implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
The meeting also addressed cooperation in the water management sphere and the importance of maintaining regional security in Central Asia.
