Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation on Tuesday, according to the Akorda press service, during which they exchanged warm greetings on the occasions of Eid al-Fitr (Oraza Ait) and Nauryz.

During the call, President Erdoğan congratulated President Tokayev on the successful conduct of the nationwide referendum and the adoption of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution. He described the development as a result of Tokayev’s “wise and decisive policy” and expressed confidence that the constitutional reforms would contribute to Kazakhstan’s continued progressive development and strengthen its domestic and international standing.

President Tokayev, in turn, expressed his appreciation to Türkiye for sending observers who actively participated in and supported the referendum process. He noted that their involvement reflects the brotherly and friendly nature of the mutually beneficial relations between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.

The two leaders also discussed upcoming high-level engagements. President Erdoğan emphasized the importance he attaches to his forthcoming state visit to Kazakhstan scheduled for May 14, as well as his participation in the meeting of the Türkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

President Tokayev underscored the significance of these engagements, noting that the high-level talks in Astana would provide fresh momentum to the bilateral strategic partnership. He also expressed strong expectations for the Summit of the Heads of Turkic-Speaking States to be held in Turkistan and affirmed that the Kazakh people would warmly welcome President Erdoğan’s visit.

In a reciprocal gesture, President Erdoğan invited President Tokayev to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in April, an invitation that was graciously accepted by the Kazakh leader.
