Kyrgyzstan Poised to Leverage Artificial Intelligence for National Development: Akylbek Japarov
Bishkek, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chief of the President’s Administration Akylbek Japarov underscored Kyrgyzstan’s potential to emerge as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) by integrating this transformative technology with national priorities. Speaking during a lecture for government officials and members of the President’s Administration, Japarov emphasized that AI is not just a technological advancement but a “new language in which humanity writes its future.”
Progress in Digital Transformation
Japarov highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s swift progress in digitization, citing tangible achievements such as the development of digital government infrastructure, electronic services, and supercomputer projects. He specifically mentioned the creation of a Kyrgyz-language chat room, underscoring the role of technology in preserving cultural heritage.
“Digital government is no longer a dream but a reality,” he remarked, adding that electronic document management within the Cabinet has enhanced efficiency, reduced bureaucracy, and minimized resource waste.
AI as a Catalyst for Growth
The Chairman noted that artificial intelligence has the potential to create new jobs, improve quality of life, and preserve cultural identity. He cited the “Akylai” project as an example of how AI can revive language and traditions, symbolizing the synergy between technology and heritage.
However, Japarov stressed the dual nature of AI, which carries both opportunities and responsibilities. He emphasized the government’s focus on data protection, algorithm transparency, and risk minimization, forming the core principles of a national AI strategy aimed at benefiting every citizen.
Economic and Strategic Aspirations
Quoting McKinsey reports, Japarov highlighted AI’s potential to contribute up to $20 trillion to the global GDP. For Kyrgyzstan, the goal extends beyond economic growth to fostering a new model of innovation and cooperation.
The lecture was enriched by contributions from representatives of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence, showcasing Kyrgyzstan’s intent to collaborate with international experts in AI development.
Vision for the Future
“Kyrgyzstan’s ability to integrate AI while respecting national characteristics will shape its position as a leader of the future,” Japarov stated. His vision reflects a strategic approach to positioning Kyrgyzstan as a competitive player in the global AI landscape while fostering national progress.
This initiative marks a pivotal step in Kyrgyzstan’s journey towards leveraging AI for sustainable development and inclusive growth.
