Hebei, The Gulf Observer: On Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for new progress in advancing the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region during a research trip to north China’s Hebei Province. Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the need for innovation-driven growth and comprehensive green transformation as key priorities for the province’s future development.

During his visit to the Xiong’an New Area, a major urban development initiative, Li highlighted the importance of attracting competitive enterprises to foster a high-tech industrial ecosystem. He stressed that nurturing a robust high-tech sector would provide fresh momentum for the area’s growth, with the goal of building a world-class industrial hub.

Li also visited China Satellite Network Group, based in the Xiong’an New Area, where he urged the company to continue advancing scientific and technological innovation. He underscored the importance of increased research and development investment and tackling key technological challenges to maintain a competitive edge in the global market.

In addition to his focus on technological progress, Premier Li also reviewed ecological efforts in the region. He visited Baiyangdian Lake, learning about the local efforts in ecological management and protection. Li’s trip also included a visit to a semiconductor company in Baoding, where he was briefed on their advancements in technology. He encouraged the company to stay ahead of global trends, ramp up R&D initiatives, and address key challenges in core technologies to strengthen its competitive position.

Further addressing the province’s recovery from severe natural disasters, Li visited a dike construction site in Zhuozhou, where he reviewed the progress of post-disaster water conservancy projects. He acknowledged the heavy rainstorms and floods that impacted the area last year and called for accelerated efforts in housing reconstruction, reinforcement of flood control systems, and enhanced planning to protect communities in the future.

As winter approaches, Premier Li urged local officials to prioritize the well-being of residents affected by last year’s disasters, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and remain safe during the colder months.

Li’s visit underlined the central government’s commitment to the balanced and sustainable development of Hebei Province, with a focus on innovation, environmental protection, and post-disaster recovery efforts.
