Loong Air Launches First Xi’an to Samarkand Flight
Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: In a landmark event for regional aviation, Loong Air inaugurated its first flight from Xi’an, China to Samarkand, Uzbekistan on June 16th. The flight represents a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between the two historic cities.
The inaugural flight landed at Samarkand International Airport precisely at 12:08 local time. Following aviation tradition, the arriving aircraft was welcomed with a spectacular water arch salute. Passengers, along with the airline delegation, tour operators, and members of the Chinese media, were greeted by the melodious sounds of traditional Uzbek instruments, karnay and surnay, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
To mark this historic occasion, Samarkand airport had organized a thematic photo zone for the arriving guests. A traditional Uzbek tea ceremony, featuring national delicacies, was also held. Additionally, an area was set up for creating calligraphic inscriptions in Farsi on Samarkand mulberry paper, offering a unique cultural experience.
Loong Air will operate flights on this route twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays, using their comfortable Airbus 320 aircraft. This new route is expected to bolster tourism and strengthen cultural and economic ties between China and Uzbekistan.
