Marcos Launches Online Platform for Public Monitoring of Flood Control Projects

Manila, The Gulf Observer: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday unveiled sumbongsapangulo.ph, an online platform aimed at providing the public with access to information on flood control projects across the Philippines while enabling citizens to report any irregularities.
“We put it into a form that is accessible to the public, and most importantly, in a form that the public can use so they can first identify the flood control projects within their area,” Marcos said during a press briefing in Malacañang.
He explained that the platform allows Filipinos to share feedback, whether positive or negative, and report issues related to the projects. “Kung maganda ang naging project, kung hindi naging maganda yung project, anong naging problema (what was the problem),” he added.
The President emphasized that public participation is vital in detecting anomalies and ensuring transparency in the PHP545-billion flood control program implemented since mid-July 2022, when his term began.
“Of course, we want the people who have taken advantage of the system to pay… And if there is evidence of corruption, embezzlement, or any wrongdoing, that’s when we will move,” he said. “We cannot do all of this without the help of the ordinary citizen,” he added, stressing that more eyes on the projects mean better oversight.
Marcos encouraged Filipinos to submit complaints, feedback, and observations through the platform, assuring that, “Ako mismo… babasahin ko bawat isa (I myself will read each one).”
The launch follows his directive in the fourth State of the Nation Address to audit flood control projects, underscoring the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in infrastructure spending.
