Minister Iskandar Meets Pope Leo XIV, Conveys President Prabowo’s Message of Peace and Interfaith Unity

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar met with Pope Leo XIV on the sidelines of the Vatican ceremony marking the Catholic leader’s official inauguration. The high-level encounter highlighted a shared commitment to global peace, interfaith unity, and service-centered leadership.
“The meeting with the Pope is not only an honor but also an affirmation of a shared commitment to building the world with a spirit of service, not domination,” Minister Iskandar stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Sunday. “Love and affection must be the main foundation in building the nation.”
During the encounter, Pope Leo XIV emphasized that love is the true path of service, stating that a more peaceful and just world can only be realized if relationships are rooted in love rather than power.
Minister Iskandar regarded the Pope’s remarks as being in harmony with his mission to deliver an official message from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. In the message, President Prabowo conveyed his full support for Pope Leo XIV’s leadership and expressed hope that cooperation between Indonesia and the Vatican will remain strong in contributing to global peace, human rights, and social empowerment.
“Pope Leo XIV’s hope to unite the entire Catholic Church as a healing and unifying force is a noble aspiration that aligns with Indonesia’s vision for world peace,” Iskandar stated. He added that preserving diversity as the foundation of unity is a top priority in President Prabowo’s administration to achieve national welfare.
The Indonesian minister also emphasized the significance of the occasion as more than a ceremonial milestone, describing it as “a moral call for all world leaders to once again prioritize the values of love, humanity, and justice as the core of public service and governance.”
Minister Iskandar was accompanied by Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Budi Arie Setiadi at the event, both representing Indonesia as official envoys of President Prabowo.
Their presence at the Vatican underscored Indonesia’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and multilateral collaboration in pursuit of a more compassionate and equitable global order.
