Morocco Showcases Transport Vision at Saint Petersburg Forum, Seeks Stronger Global Partnerships

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco is actively participating in the inaugural International Transport and Logistics Forum in Saint Petersburg, positioning itself as a forward-looking partner in the evolving global transport landscape while strengthening international cooperation in the sector.
The high-level forum, hosted in Saint Petersburg, has brought together government officials and industry leaders from around 60 countries to foster dialogue on connectivity and logistics—key pillars of global economic resilience. Organized by the Ministry of Transport of Russia with the support of the Roscongress Foundation, the event aims to establish a lasting platform for multilateral engagement.
Morocco is represented by Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh, who is leading an official delegation comprising senior ministry officials. Morocco’s Ambassador to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara, is also participating in the forum, which runs until April 3.
Through its participation, Morocco is showcasing its achievements in transport and logistics while seeking to expand international partnerships in a sector undergoing rapid transformation. The forum provides Rabat with an opportunity to highlight its strategic role as a bridge between regions and a hub for connectivity amid shifting global supply chains and increasing demand for modernization.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister Kayouh is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart, Andrey Nikitin. The meeting follows earlier discussions held during the eighth session of the Moroccan-Russian Joint Government Commission in Moscow in October 2025.
The talks are anticipated to culminate in the signing of two key agreements: a bilateral accord on international road transport for passengers and goods, and a protocol amending the existing air services agreement signed in March 2016. These measures are expected to enhance the legal and operational framework governing transport links between Morocco and Russia.
The Saint Petersburg forum is rapidly emerging as a significant platform on the global transport agenda, featuring more than 40 sessions and roundtables. Discussions are centered on leveraging advanced technologies to improve transport safety, operational efficiency, and passenger and freight experiences, while also addressing the need to modernize international regulatory frameworks in line with digitalization and new mobility models.
For Morocco, participation in the forum underscores a proactive approach—shaping strategic partnerships, aligning with global trends, and reinforcing its position as a dynamic player in international transport and logistics.
