Morocco’s Automotive Exports Rise 14.9% to $11.45 Billion by July 2026

Casablanca, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s automotive exports reached MAD 107.14 billion ($11.45 billion) by the end of July 2026, registering a 14.9 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to data from the country’s Exchange Office.

The growth was supported by strong performance across the sector’s main activities. Exports from vehicle construction increased by 19.9 percent to MAD 42.48 billion ($4.54 billion), while wiring exports rose 13.8 percent to MAD 40.62 billion ($4.34 billion).

The exterior segment recorded the highest growth rate, with exports increasing by 47.9 percent to MAD 3.42 billion ($365.4 million).

Morocco’s automotive industry has maintained strong momentum throughout 2026. By the end of June, automotive exports had reached MAD 93.7 billion, representing a 17.4 percent year-on-year increase.

The sector’s expansion has been accompanied by increased manufacturing capacity. In July, Stellantis began production of the Fiat Grizzly and Fiat Fastback at its Kenitra facility, which has an annual installed capacity of 535,000 vehicles and 350,000 engines. Local integration at the plant has reached 69 percent.

Renault also remains a major contributor to Morocco’s automotive industry. The company produced 394,474 vehicles in Morocco in 2025, with 82 percent of production exported to 63 international markets.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s broader export performance also strengthened during the first seven months of 2026. Total goods exports reached MAD 299.34 billion ($31.98 billion), up 8.4 percent from MAD 276.18 billion recorded during the same period a year earlier.

Other export sectors also posted gains. Aerospace exports increased by 19.7 percent to MAD 20.56 billion ($2.20 billion), while agriculture and agri-food exports rose 7 percent. However, exports of phosphates and derivatives declined by 7.8 percent, textile and leather exports fell 5.5 percent, and electronics and electrical equipment exports decreased by 2.9 percent.

On the import side, Morocco’s imports increased by 15.9 percent to MAD 544.05 billion, resulting in a 26.5 percent widening of the country’s trade deficit.

The continued expansion of automotive exports underscores the sector’s growing importance to Morocco’s industrial base and its role as a key driver of the country’s international trade.
