Myanmar and Russia Strengthen Cooperation in Defence and Humanitarian Sectors

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: Myanmar and the Russian Federation have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in defence and humanitarian sectors, alongside other areas of mutual interest.

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar, Mr. Iskander Azizov, yesterday morning at the Office of the SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in candid discussions on fostering friendly relations and cooperation. They reviewed the achievements resulting from the Senior General’s official State visit to the Russian Federation and assessed the ongoing implementation of agreements signed during the visit. Plans for further discussions on outstanding topics were also deliberated.

The talks encompassed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including strengthening legislative collaboration between the two nations by facilitating delegation exchanges with Russian parliamentary bodies. Both parties also emphasized the importance of enhancing defence and humanitarian cooperation, as well as fostering collaboration in other key sectors. The exchange of goodwill visits between Myanmar and Russia was also highlighted as a means to deepen diplomatic ties.

The meeting was attended by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo. The Russian Ambassador was accompanied by the Military Attaché of the Russian Federation to Myanmar and other officials.

This high-level engagement underscores the continued efforts by both nations to reinforce strategic partnerships and expand their cooperation in various fields.
