New Polio Vaccine Shipment Arrives in Gaza Amid Ongoing Israeli Attacks
Gaza, The Gulf Observer: A new shipment of 350,000 doses of polio vaccines has arrived in Gaza, according to a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The vaccines, which arrived on Tuesday evening, have been stored in refrigerators at the Ministry’s warehouses in Deir al-Balah.
Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan confirmed that with this second batch, Gaza has now received approximately 1.6 million doses of the vaccine. This quantity is deemed sufficient to provide two doses of the vaccine to all children aged from birth to 10 years old.
The arrival of the vaccines comes amid ongoing conflict in the region. On Tuesday evening, an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City resulted in the deaths of seven Palestinians and left over thirty injured, as reported by the Palestinian Wafa news agency. The attack targeted an apartment near the municipal park in downtown Gaza, killing five civilians, including a child. Additionally, Israeli forces struck Nama College, killing two civilians and injuring around thirty others. An Israeli drone also targeted a group of people in the Shujaiya neighborhood, causing further injuries.
