Oman, Botswana Hold High-Level Talks to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Gaborone, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman held a bilateral meeting with President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana at the Presidency in Gaborone on Wednesday evening.

The meeting was held as part of His Majesty Sultan Haitham’s visit to Botswana and focused on the cordial relations between Oman and Botswana and ways to further strengthen and develop bilateral ties in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries and brings greater mutual benefits to their peoples.

Following the bilateral meeting, His Majesty Sultan Haitham and President Boko co-chaired an expanded official session of talks.

The discussions reviewed existing areas of cooperation between Oman and Botswana and explored avenues for enhancing bilateral collaboration, particularly in renewable energy, mining, investment, logistics, food security and agriculture.

The Omani delegation included HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority; Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and Ali bin Said Al Kathiri, Head of the Sultanate of Oman’s Mission in the Republic of South Africa.

The Botswanan side was represented by Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, Vice President and Minister of Finance; Dr. Phenyo Butale, Minister of International Relations; Moeti Caesar Mohwasa, Minister of State President, Defence and Security; Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy; Tiroeaone Ntsima, Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Stephen Modise, Minister of Health; Brigadier Pius Mokgware, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs; and Keoagile Atamelang, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

During his visit, His Majesty Sultan Haitham also graciously signed the Book of Distinguished Guests. Commemorative gifts were subsequently exchanged between the Sultan and the President of Botswana, reflecting the longstanding bonds of friendship and goodwill between the two countries.
