Oman, Iran Discuss Strait of Hormuz Security, Stress Freedom of Navigation

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi has said he held constructive discussions on the security of the Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, underscoring the shared responsibility of regional states to ensure safe international navigation.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Omani minister emphasized that countries bordering the strategically vital waterway must work collectively to safeguard maritime security and maintain the uninterrupted flow of global shipping.

Sayyid Badr also highlighted the urgent humanitarian need to secure the release of seafarers who have been held for extended periods, stressing that sustained diplomatic engagement and practical solutions are essential to achieving lasting freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors, playing a key role in global energy supplies and international trade, making stability in the region a matter of international concern.
