Oman Participates in 27th GCC E-Government Executive Committee Meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman took part on Monday in the 27th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) E-Government Executive Committee, held in the State of Kuwait, to advance regional cooperation in digital governance and emerging technologies.

Oman’s delegation was led by Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Enablement at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

The committee deliberated on a range of key agenda items, including the General Secretariat’s report on the implementation of decisions from the 26th meeting and the progress of initiatives under the GCC’s guiding strategy for e-government.

Discussions also focused on the development of shared e-services among GCC member states, the unified procurement of software across the region, and collaborative initiatives in artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.

Notably, the committee reviewed the general framework for supporting AI applications in public services, as well as a separate framework for climate prediction and disaster management using AI—both proposals having been developed and presented by the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting further addressed the proposed criteria for the GCC Digital Government Award, aimed at recognizing excellence and innovation in the digital transformation of government services.

The 27th session underscored the commitment of GCC member states to enhancing digital cooperation, fostering innovation, and leveraging technological advancements to improve public sector efficiency and resilience.
