Oman Participates in Oman-Spain Business Forum in Madrid

Madrid, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), participated in the Oman-Spain Business Forum, held in Madrid. The event, hosted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, aimed to strengthen economic ties and explore investment opportunities between the two nations.

The Omani delegation was led by Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain, Member of the OCCI Board of Directors. The forum featured several Omani companies and highlighted opportunities within the Spanish market. A series of B2B meetings were also held on the sidelines of the forum to discuss potential investments in the private sectors of Oman and Spain.

Jaime Montalvo, International Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of the forum in fostering bilateral trade and investment relations. He expressed hope that the event would promote effective communication and lead to the establishment of trade partnerships between business leaders from both countries.

Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain explained that Oman’s participation in the forum is part of its broader efforts to support the private sector’s role in economic diversification. He noted that the trade delegation comprised representatives from key sectors such as food security, health, and industry, along with officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, to showcase Oman’s investment climate and opportunities.

During his visit, Eng. Hussain also announced plans to visit Spanish companies in Madrid and Barcelona to explore cooperation prospects, create trade partnerships, and exchange expertise between Omani and Spanish private sector institutions. He expressed optimism that the forum and associated meetings would open new avenues for increasing trade exchange between the two countries across various economic sectors.

Mohammed Al Lawati, representing Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, presented a working paper on Oman’s investment environment and highlighted key opportunities available for foreign investors.

Spanish representatives, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, provided insights into Spain’s efforts to enhance bilateral economic relations and its commercial activity in the Middle East. The Spanish Chamber of Commerce also gave an overview of Spain’s commercial landscape and the operational mechanisms of its chambers of commerce.

The forum concluded with introductions of the participating Omani companies, their areas of interest, and potential business ventures in Spain. The event also featured bilateral discussions between Spanish firms and Omani delegation members, exploring investment opportunities in the private sectors of both countries.
