Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Swiss Confederation signed several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to enhance areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries in various sectors, under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Swiss Confederation.
The MoUs include agreements in the fields of sustainable and renewable energy and its technologies, heritage, tourism, health care, and capacity building, in addition to the field of diplomatic studies and training.
His Excellency Dr. Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, praised the bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Swiss Confederation in various fields and levels, their positive role in promoting international peace and stability, and the commitment of the two friendly countries to neutrality in regional and international issues, pointing out the existence of commonalities between the two sides that contribute to strengthening cooperation.
His Excellency affirmed after the Omani-Swiss Mediation Week that there is a serious desire on both sides to expand areas of cooperation to include climate change, artificial intelligence, and others.
His Excellency appreciated the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman and the Swiss Confederation to promote universal health coverage and strive for health to be a bridge leading to global peace through the joint Omani-Swiss initiative represented by the “Global Health Initiative for Peace,” and the importance of implementing health policies.
