Oman’s Foreign Minister Raises Alarms Over Lebanon’s Plight Amid Israeli Strikes
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, expressed his concern and support for the people of Lebanon in a statement shared on the X platform, while also calling for a solution to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
In his post, Minister Al Busaidi criticized governments that condemn Iranian actions or unconditionally defend Israel, emphasizing that such approaches fail to resolve the core issues. He stated, “It is only by ending Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine that we can hope to restore peace to the region.” He argued that solutions focusing solely on containing Iran, eliminating Hamas, or defeating Hezbollah are misguided and avoid addressing the fundamental problem.
The Foreign Minister further highlighted the failure of many Western governments to ensure the rights and security of the Palestinian people, noting the expansion of illegal settlements and the imposition of an apartheid regime. He called for an immediate suspension of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, followed by international efforts to end the occupation and establish a sovereign Palestinian state.
Al Busaidi concluded by stressing that international law must be upheld through collective action, ensuring that a Palestinian state is fully backed by the global community’s legal and institutional resources.
