Philippines Launches Online E-Visa System, Oman Issues Travel Advisory

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Foreign Ministry of Oman has informed Omani citizens that the Republic of the Philippines introduced an electronic visa (e-Visa) system effective October 5, 2026, enabling travellers to apply for visas online through the official portal, evisa.gov.ph.
Under the new system, travellers holding a valid e-Visa can present their visa authorization upon arrival in the Philippines in either digital or printed form. The authorities will not affix a physical e-Visa sticker to the passport.
The ministry outlined several important regulations for Omani citizens intending to travel to the Philippines under the new system.
The e-Visa system is compatible with the machine-readable visa (MRV) sticker for Category 9(a) temporary visitor visas, as well as other applicable visa categories.
However, an e-Visa cannot be converted into another type of Philippine visa, and the authorized period of stay cannot be extended.
The ministry also advised Omani travellers to ensure that their passports remain valid for at least six months beyond their intended date of entry into the Philippines. In addition, travellers must possess comprehensive health insurance covering the entire duration of their stay.
Omani citizens planning to visit the Philippines have been encouraged to review the applicable visa conditions and entry requirements before travelling to ensure compliance with the country’s immigration regulations.
