PM Shehbaz, Qatari Amir Hold Talks on Regional Security, Energy Stability, Bilateral Cooperation
Doha, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a warm and cordial meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, upon his arrival in Doha on Thursday.
The meeting, held at the Amiri Diwan, focused on the latest regional and international developments, particularly the evolving situation in the Middle East. At the outset, the Amir welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation, and expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and promoting diplomatic dialogue to ensure regional peace and stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong condemnation of recent attacks against Qatar and other Gulf countries, reiterating Islamabad’s full solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar. Both leaders underscored the importance of sustained de-escalation efforts and enhanced international coordination to safeguard regional security, including ensuring the uninterrupted flow of global energy supply chains.
The two sides also reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and explored avenues to further strengthen cooperation in key sectors such as security, defense, and energy, with a view to deepening strategic partnership and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration.
The meeting was attended on the Qatari side by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with senior officials including Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan.
On the Pakistani side, the delegation included Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Attaullah Tarar, Minister of Information; and Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, among other senior officials.
The Amir and the Prime Minister also held a one-on-one meeting, during which they exchanged views on ongoing developments of mutual interest and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation in light of evolving regional dynamics.
Following the talks, the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation, underscoring the strong and friendly ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
